Responsibilities:

In this project, an experimental method will be employed to develop strategies for component design and manufacturing using additive manufacturing (AM) to create a step-change in the optimisation of material properties for critical alloys used in automotive sector. The aim of this 1-year feasibility study is to develop a fundamental understanding of the relationship between AM processing conditions, microstructure and micro-texture with mechanical properties of the alloys produced via AM route. Work will be undertaken using the equipment available at the Faculty of Technology Centre: Metal Laser Melting 3D Systems ProX300 system, high performance CAD/CAM systems and various mechanical testing facilities. Furthermore, FEM will be conducted to understand AM processing and property relationship.
This appointment is a fixed-term contract until 28 February 2025,
