Description Summary/Objective Under general supervision from the Clinical Research Coordinators, the Research Assistant is responsible for aiding with the recruitment, collection, processing, and shipping of samples, specimens, and data. Essential Functions Collect, process, and assist in the compilation and verification of research data, samples, and/or specimens (following strict protocol and detailed instructions) Assist with routine data verification and quality control, ensuring data integrity and consistency with prescribed study protocol Enter and maintain case report forms per FDA guidelines, and review them against the patient’s medical record for completeness and accuracy Ensure the filing and maintenance of all regulatory documents Assist coordinators with preparation of source documents Assist with subject recruitment and schedule patient visits Provide general office support to keep operations running smoothly Preparing patients for blood draws Collecting blood samples through venipuncture or capillary puncture Labeling and storing blood samples correctly for laboratory analysis. Maintaining equipment and ensuring a clean work environment. Assisting patients who may experience adverse reactions during or after the blood draw. Competencies Comprehensive knowledge of applicable safety and specimen handling guidelines and procedures. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from physicians, staff and patients Proficiency in Microsoft Office software preferred, knowledge of EMR systems required Able to function effectively in a team setting Must have critical thinking skills Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals Able to demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail Must be a self-starter and demonstrate initiative Willingness to learn a must Supervisory Responsibility None Work Environment This job operates in a professional medical office environment, utilizing standard office equipment. Physical Demands The physical demands include standing, walking, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, with an 8-hour shift Monday through Friday. No weekends are required.
