SUMMARY

The Department of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine in seeking a qualified, highly motivated and creative Research Associate to join the Frankfort lab. The project will use mice to investigate a novel relationship between serotonergic signaling and retinal function, particularly in the context of glaucoma and retinal ganglion cell biology. This is a part-time position, approximately 8 hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Basic Science or a related field. Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
  • Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in life sciences.
  • Experience with vision science, molecular/cellular biology, genetics, physiology, or biochemistry.
  • Prior experience in the following areas is strongly preferred: histopathology, advanced in vivo imaging in animal models, transcriptome profiling, and drug delivery.
  • Excellent (written and verbal) communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in vision research.
  • Prior experience with general statistical methods and statistical software (eg. Prism).
  • Prior experience with mouse colony management and breeding.
  • Prior experience mentoring students or staff.
  • Prior presentation and publication history is expected.
