Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Chemistry and Physics and the Center for Environmental Research invites applications for the position of Research Associate/Chemical Laboratory Technician. The Research Associate/Chemical Laboratory Technician will oversee the day-to-day activities of an analytical chemistry lab. Duties include leading operations, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, processing environmental samples, taking chemical measurements, and data and project management for a large chemical monitoring project. The Research Associate/Chemical Laboratory Technician will collect chemical data in consultation with the PI and postdoctoral researchers. Qualified candidates should have extensive experience in an analytical chemistry lab setting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

BS in Chemistry from an accredited university by hire date

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MS in Chemistry from an accredited university. Experience in a lab setting with experience operating Atomic and Molecular Spectrometers (ICP, MPAES, DMA FTIR), as well as other basic chemistry laboratory equipment. Candidates will be responsible for instrument maintenance and upkeep, laboratory management, and data organization. Applicants should have relevant experience with analytical chemistry techniques.
