THE PROJECT

SPRITE+ Deep Dive: Extended Reality Convergence with other Emerging Technologies and the implications for Trust, Identity, Privacy, Safety, and Security (XRCET-TIPSS)
We are recruiting a Research Associate/Fellow to work on this one year deep dive project on the future evolution of Extended Reality (XR) technologies and what this means for TIPSS risks and risk mitigation, in particular focusing on the ways in which the convergence of XR with other emerging technologies (e.g., AI, neurotech) will transform and disrupt issues of TIPSS in the next 5-15 years.

Responsibilities

As the XRCET-TIPSS research associate/fellow you will have opportunities to hone your skills in literature review and synthesis, impact generation, and communication with non-academic audiences. You will work closely with the XR TIPSS Community of Interest Steering Group, the project team, and with RAs/RFs working on the three other Deep Dive topics.
This post is funded for 12 months FTE. The successful candidate may fill the post full-time for one year or part-time for a longer period however the project must be complete by 31st August 2027. We are open to a range of flexible working options.
We welcome applications from scholars familiar with the TIPSS issues associated with XR and/or other new and emerging technologies, from any disciplinary background, and with the ability to work across disciplines to build a holistic understanding of XRCET TIPSS issues. You will be supported by a multi-disciplinary and cross-sector project team and steering group.
