POSITION SUMMARY

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Michigan State University is looking to fill the position of a Postdoctoral Research Associate with a background in the areas of Mechanics, Dynamics, Controls, and Vibrations, beginning October 15, 2025. The candidate is expected to carry out theoretical and experimental research in one or more of the following thematic areas: mechanics and finite element analysis of buckling, dynamics and control of hopping locomotion, and trajectory planning and motion control of dynamical systems subject to impulsive inputs. The candidate may also be required to teach at the undergraduate level in vibrations, dynamics, control systems, or related areas. The candidate should have earned a PhD in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline, and demonstrated ability to conduct theoretical, computational, and experimental research. A strong publication record, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage projects and mentor graduate students are required. The candidate is requested to submit their curriculum vitae that contains their educational background, research and teaching experience, a list of publications, and the names of three references.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.
