Description
As a Research Associate specializing in directed evolution, you will contribute to the advancement of Quantum-Si’s sequencing platform by supporting protein engineering efforts for new sequencing reagents. You will work within a discovery pipeline that leverages ultra-high throughput directed evolution methods (selections) and high-throughput screening. You’ll develop technical proficiency in cutting-edge yeast-display techniques for selecting and screening protein variants, applying this pipeline to diverse scientific challenges. Under the guidance of senior team members, you will analyze experimental data to identify promising leads for further characterization. Opportunities for growth in protein structure analysis and recombinant protein expression are also available. Collaboration within a dynamic, multidisciplinary scientific team is essential. As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be: Execute ultra-high throughput in vivo strategies for enzyme and protein selection, primarily using fluorescence-activated cell sorting. Perform assays to screen protein variants, focusing on binding activity. Analyze data from your experiments and learn their interpretation. Report findings to management and collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team. Qualifications Baseline skills/experiences/attributes: Bachelor’s degree in Protein Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology or a related field with 1 year of industry experience or Master degree in Protein Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, or a related field with no industry experience Ability to thrive in fast-paced, technical environments. Quick learner, adept at mastering complex laboratory procedures and executing detailed instructions. Capable of managing and evaluating multiple scientific strategies concurrently. Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills. Commitment to high-quality results, problem-solving, and prioritizing execution. Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!): Prior experience in recombinant protein expression or yeast biology is a plus. Proficiency in analyzing biological data is appreciated. The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $65,000 - $75,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, an individual’s skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
