Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The post holder will work in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London.
This position is funded by Richard Thomas’ Royal Society research professorship and will involve the study of enumerative invariants in algebraic geometry and gauge theory.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

The successful candidate will work closely with Professor Richard Thomas and members of Pure Maths Section.
Depending on the tastes and expertise of the post holder the project can be a mix of calculation or development of new theory based around counting of coherent sheaves in dimensions 2, 3 and 4. Techniques such as deformation theory, derived categories, wall-crossing, localisation and K-theoretic invariants will play a role.
