Research Associate, Institute for Global Health and Development Entity: Aga Khan University Location: Karachi Introduction The Aga Khan University’s Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) was established in the year 2020 to serve as a University-wide entity for providing a unique platform for facilitating strategic engagements and partnerships between AKU, University of Central Asia and the wider Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). IGHD aims to address global health and environmental challenges by creating a multi-disciplinary support system and infrastructure, whereby researchers across campuses and regions can collaborate and contribute. The IGHD works across four thematic areas, including Sustainable Development Goals (including Broad Social Determinants of Health); Gender Equity and Empowerment; Climate Change, Urban Development, and Health, and; Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition. This is a grant-funded contractual position. Responsibilities You will be responsible to supervise and monitor the research activities including data collection as well as maintain necessary records, create and sustain liaison with the relevant stakeholders for the smooth implementation of all necessary activities of the project. Specific responsibilities include to: Field data collection and interview assessments; supervise and monitor all field activities; coordinate with staff working at field; provide trainings; coordinate with Government and Community stakeholders for carrying out the project activities; visit field sites for monitoring and auditing purpose to ensure proper field operations as per the guidelines and SoPs provided; actively work on proposal development of research studies; liaison with granting agencies and other stake holders for project operations; ensure the completeness, proper entry and archiving of the CRFs and / or questionnaires; monitor and report the hospital / mortality surveillance; monitor and report on the disease surveillance from non-project facilities (private and public sectors, and NGOs); prepare and present weekly, fortnightly and monthly project reports and presentations for the progress of study being carried out at multiple locations; additional tasks assigned by supervisor; prepare and present weekly, fortnightly and monthly project reports and presentations. Requirements You should have: Bachelors or equivalent; 1-2 years of related work experience would be preferred; strong communication and interpersonal skills; team player; good writing skills; basic Knowledge of survey and other research designs; data collection, analysis and interpretation in terms of report writing and biostatics; strong interpersonal skills and communication; willingness to work on field sites.
