TUD Dresden University of Technology, as a University of Excellence, is one of the leading and most dynamic research institutions in the country. Founded in 1828, today it is a globally oriented, regionally anchored top university as it focuses on the grand challenges of the 21st century. It develops innovative solutions for the world’s most pressing issues.
The intensity and frequency of droughts has increased dramatically over the last decade. Many forests have shown high drought vulnerability, but responses are complex and not uniform, even for trees of the same species. To understand how trees will respond to future climate conditions, it is of utmost importance to also consider their phenotypic plasticity and life history. The project ‘XyLife’, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), aims to enhance the knowledge and process understanding of the interactions between tree growth, hydraulic architecture and water availability by using patterns of wood anatomy from provenance experiments of tree species for the development and parameterization of a new individual-based xylem growth model and its implementation into existing forest simulation models.
For TUD diversity is an essential feature and a quality criterion of an excellent university. Accordingly, we welcome all applicants who would like to commit themselves, their achievements and productivity to the success of the whole institution.
At the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Department of Forest Sciences, Institute of Forest Growth and Forest Computer Sciences, the Chair of Forest Biometrics and Systems Analysis offers a project position as
Research Associate (m/f/x)
