Description

Monod Bio is a pioneer company in the design of de novo protein reagents for Life Sciences and Diagnostics. Our innovative design platform technology takes advantage of the most recent advances in deep learning computational protein engineering to create highly rapid and sensitive protein-based reagents and assays. Our visionary founding team and state-of-the-art technology and product development experience position Monod Bio at the forefront of molecular reporter, binder and functional protein innovation, and we welcome exceptional individuals to join us in this journey.

POSITION SUMMARY

Monod Bio is seeking a Research or Senior Research Associate in Molecular Biology (level is dependent on experience) with a strong foundation in molecular biology and protein biochemistry. In this role, you will support our Protein design and protein optimization efforts by establishing advanced DNA assembly and protein mutagenesis schemes, FACS screening of yeast display libraries, and using biochemical techniques to identify potential leads.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, biophysics, analytical chemistry, biology, biotechnology, chemical engineering, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience for a Research Associate and 3+ years of experience for a Senior Research Associate with molecular biology techniques (DNA work, PCR, cloning, plasmid purification, and Sanger sequence analysis).
  • Experience with one or more display platforms (yeast, bacterial, mammalian, phage)
  • Experience with staining panel development, flow cytometry, and sorting
  • Experience in protein sciences and analysis in academia or industry.
  • Familiarity with biochemical and biophysical methods such as BLI and SDS-PAGE
  • Extensive experience with tracking data and recording results in electronic lab notebook format (e.g., Benchling).
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience designing expression vectors for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems.
  • Hands-on experience with DNA library construction and preparation for sequencing.
  • Proficiency with coli bacterial protein expression
  • Experience with flow cytometry, including staining panel design, sorting, and data analysis in FlowJo.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform work in both an office and laboratory environment. Will be in proximity to BSL2 labs. Familiarity with biological and chemical hazard handling. Training and equipment will be provided, as necessary.
  • Office mobility and the ability to stand for periods of time as needed is required.
  • Operations happen in moderately loud environments. PPE included by the company.
  • Mild odors from the manufacture of physical specimens and from laboratory work. The environment has been tested and proper engineering protections are in place.

  • Assist in experimental planning and troubleshooting under the guidance of senior scientists.
  • Maintain accurate records of plasmids, libraries, strains, and purified protein lots in Benchling.
  • Assemble DNA constructs from synthetic gene fragments using Golden Gate cloning.
  • Execute standard molecular biology techniques including PCR, cloning, plasmid prep, and DNA purification.
  • Design and conduct mutagenesis experiments to create diverse DNA libraries.
  • Design and implement staining panels for FACS screening of yeast display libraries
  • Execute phage display panning campaigns for the selection of high affinity binders.
  • Conduct high-throughput protein expression screening in E. coli using 96-well plate formats.
  • Perform binding assays using Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI) and ELISA.
  • Perform thermal stability assays using light scattering
  • Collaborate with the team to fulfill molecular biology cloning, sequencing, and glycerol stocking requests and ensure timely delivery.
  • Support additional lab operations and projects as needed.
