Job Summary
Would you like to be part of a teamworking with passion to extract ingredients from seaweed to provide groundbreaking solutions for the food industry? IFF’s Texturant Research and Development team is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Research Associate to join our laboratory. Our team is dedicated to support our alginate and carrageenan business to provide best-in class solution to our customers in the food and beverage industry. This science professional will support our current R&D pipeline by performing laboratory experiment in collaboration with team members to generate, analyze, document, and report technical data to support research programs focused on seaweed extract.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and perform experiments, including the extraction of ingredients from seaweed biomass
  • Conduct analytical characterization using instruments such as rheometers, texture analyzers, and FTIR
  • Ensure best lab practices and maintain high safety and food safety standards
  • Document, report, and manage experiments according to best laboratory practices and internal processes
  • Support laboratory organization through equipment maintenance and propose improvements as needed
  • Actively participate in project execution within the department

Our requirements:

  • Academy Profession (AP) graduate in Chemical or Biotechnical Science, or 3+ years of relevant experience in a related industry
  • Previous laboratory experience in a chemical lab or with the extraction and purification of natural products
  • Knowledge of HACCP procedures to ensure high food safety standards is an advantage
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to document and report new findings and identify deviations in experimental setups
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and changing environment
  • High team spirit and excellent collaboration skills, with a willingness to help colleagues
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize work according to team needs
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written
