We are looking for a skilled Protein Biochemist who is innovative and enthusiastic to join our small-scale Antibody Production and Automation Team as a Research Associate / Scientist in Slough, UK.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

This permanent position involves producing antibody proteins to support all research activities at scales ranging from 2 ml to 200 ml. The ideal candidate will have industry experience in mammalian cell culture, antibody purification, quality analysis, and automation.
This role is ideal for someone who has a strong desire to progress early in their career, who is passionate about antibody production research and eager to work with novel technologies.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Perform small-scale transient mammalian transfections and purify expressed monoclonal antibodies using automated techniques.
  • Organise work effectively and manage time to work on multiple projects.
  • Interpret data to identify purification and product quality abnormalities, alert stakeholders, and consider possible solutions.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of automated/robotic high-throughput transient expression, purification, and Quality Check technologies.
  • Learn and apply new computational languages and tools to support automation, data analysis, and process optimisation in antibody expression and purification workflows.
  • Maintain diligent record-keeping of experimental methods and results via electronic laboratory notebooks and online registration systems.
  • Maintain lab equipment to high standards, including assisting with maintenance and cleaning protocols.

INTERESTED? FOR THIS ROLE WE’RE LOOKING F9OR THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Biochemistry or Biotechnology with some practical experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience in cell culture, especially with mammalian cell hosts such as CHO and HEK.
  • Proficiency in aseptic technique and maintenance of cell stocks.
  • Experience with antibody/protein purification techniques and AKTA Purification platforms.
  • Familiarity with automated or high-throughput purification platforms (Tecan, Janus, Hamilton and ChemSpeed platforms) and analytical assays (e.g., UPLC/Empower, HPLC/Chemstations).
  • Competence in protein characterisation techniques: Analytical SEC, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and Mass spectrometry.
  • Proficiency in using Excel spreadsheets and logistics databases.
