EDUCATION:

  • PhD in nursing, social work, public health, psychology, education or another related field in social sciences or health sciences.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 3-year postdoctoral research experience acquired as a postdoctoral fellow, research associate, equivalent or higher position in academic research, with demonstrated academic and research expertise in the field of pediatric palliative care using primarily qualitative methods.
  • Demonstrated success in writing and preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and reports.
  • Experience writing grants and funding applications.
  • Experience working with patient partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and training graduate students and/or research staff.
  • Strong knowledge of pediatric palliative care in Canada.

SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in NVivo, statistics packages, and MS Office (Excel and Word).
  • Advanced training in qualitative analysis.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in weekly lab meetings
  • Design, plan, and execute research projects
  • Conduct data analysis using statistical and qualitative analysis packages
  • Write research results into manuscript format
  • Assist in grant writing
  • Present findings at internal and external conferences
  • Contribute to the mentorship and training of graduate and undergraduate students and junior researchers (qualitative research knowledge and skills, writing and oral presentation skills, and professional development)
  • Liaise with collaborators and assist in the compilation, analysis and reporting of research findings to knowledge users
  • Work collaboratively with all members in the lab/ partners, including with multi-professional, multi-institutional teams
