Description

ABOUT US

UCL is London’s Global University – a world-leading, research-intensive institution consistently ranked among the top 10 globally. With more than 50,000 students and 18,000 staff from over 150 countries, our community is defined by its progressive approach to teaching and research. The Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement) portfolio brings together research, enterprise, and global partnerships to support and empower our researchers and students to address the most pressing challenges of our time. Within this, the Research Coordination Office (RCO) plays a key role in supporting academics to develop successful funding applications, foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, and deliver UCL’s health-related research strategy. The team also supports the strategic development of UCL Research Domains (Cancer, Neuroscience, Health of the Public), management of strategic research funds, and supports the UCL Research & Innovation Board.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, adaptable and motivated by the opportunity to support others to achieve excellence. You should hold a degree or equivalent experience and bring with you an understanding of the research culture within a large university or similar research organisation. Strong IT skills are essential, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to interpret and manipulate datasets using Excel, Tableau or similar tools. You should also be a confident communicator, with excellent written and verbal skills that enable you to prepare persuasive and accessible materials for a wide range of audiences. The role requires exceptional organisational ability, as you will be working on multiple projects and deadlines at the same time, and it also calls for strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with colleagues at all levels and with external partners. Above all, you should be flexible and proactive in your approach, able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience in research funding processes, university finance systems or a postgraduate research degree would be an advantage, but most importantly, you will bring the commitment, initiative and collaborative spirit needed to succeed in this role.
