Description
The Department of Psychiatry in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position reports to the Research Manager and is part of the e Calgary Trajectories in Youth Mental Health (TYM) Cohort study.
The Research Coordinator will be primarily responsible for participant recruitment, screening and follow up, collection and management on genetic (saliva) samples, data management and reporting, research ethics board protocol management, study amendments, as well as collaboration with other associated studies.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Coordinate research participant recruitment and data collection
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining participant study records and documentation
  • Data entry and database maintenance
  • Coordination of data transfer between sites, biological sample collection and management (e.g., storage, shipping)
  • Preparing data for presentations and peer-reviewed research papers
  • Other administrative duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, biology or a related field combined with one (1) year or more of relevant research experience. A graduate degree is considered an asset
  • Previous experience working with youth, young adults and/or families with mental health challenges is a strong asset
  • Previous experience in recruiting, screening and consenting research participants is preferred
  • Candidates will also have demonstrated ability to collect and manage data and will have literature review and synthesis skills
  • Proficiency with word processing, PowerPoint and database software packages is required
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and diverse stakeholders is essential
  • Demonstrated communications skills (both oral and written) are required as is the ability to explain complex issues in plain language
  • Excellent attention to detail, the ability to exercise initiative and good judgment, and be able to meet deadlines while working independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Candidates require the ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Quantitative data analysis experience preferred
  • Qualitative data analysis experience preferred
  • Previous experience with REDCap preferred
