About the CWDB:
The CWDB is recognized nationally as a progressive and experimental state workforce department, charting a path to a High Road economy and approach to workforce development grounded in the principles of social equity, environmental sustainability, and resilience and quality jobs. Over the past decade, the CWDB’s budget, programs, and staff have grown exponentially using federal and state workforce funding to pilot new sector-based workforce initiatives and develop policy solutions that address the quality and accessibility of jobs in addition to training. The CWDB is a stand alone state agency, is not part of the Employment Development Department, and is under the larger umbrella of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency. If you are motivated to be part of a small but mighty department doing the work described above, you may be a great fit for one of our open positions.
Job Description and Duties:
Under general direction, the Research Data Specialist II (RDS II) independently performs complex data analysis, research projects or activities, and analytical duties regarding data including statistical investigations for use in the evaluation of initiative and program outcomes. The RDS II will perform data gathering, analysis, and evaluation of various administrative priority initiatives and programs administered by the California Workforce Development Board (CWDB).
The RDS II promotes what is learned from these evaluations and assessments by developing data-interpretive expert narratives which may be communicated via analytical reports, graphs and tables, toolkits, stakeholder webinars, policy briefs, and conference presentations for purposes of dissemination to the public and policymakers.
The RDS II will work on research projects as assigned to inform building, implementing, and supporting various administrative priorities assigned to the CWDB.
The RDS II is knowledgeable in workforce development and experienced in guiding discussions on workforce policy and program outcomes. The RDS II will be required to attend meetings or conferences as a representative of the CWDB staff and is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and technical competency. The development of key workforce performance indicators, metrics, and methodologies as well as workforce market trends by region will lead to workforce impact analysis. Work products will be used for CWDB grant applications to the Federal Government and philanthropy.
