VPRI provides a full range of services including guidance to faculty, staff and students on funding opportunities, research agreement negotiation, oversight and accountability services including research accounting, environmental health and safety, innovation and entrepreneurship, partnerships, policies and procedures, and institutional awards and honours.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Six to seven years of relevant research development experience, such as: coordinating/participating in scientific reviews, working with/for funding organizations, promoting research programs to internal networks or external partners, and writing/editing grant applications.
  • Experience managing complex relationships, strategy development and implementation of programs, preferably in a university environment.
  • Experience maintaining databases and producing complex statistical reports and analysis from data collected.
  • Strong communication skills, including exceptional presentation and writing skillsto produce professional presentation materials for proposal development purposes.
  • Sound knowledge of University research-related and financial policies and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with a broad range of information systems tools including spreadsheets, databases and sponsor-based electronic systems.
  • Superior ability to work collaboratively with faculty members and other contacts.
  • Ability to understand and articulate research goals and requirements of industry and academic contacts.
  • Understanding of research contracts, intellectual property, research applications and research funding opportunities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Tact and sensitivity in dealing with varied clientele.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.

Responsibilities

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Disseminating information regarding research funding programs and opportunities to the research community
  • Coordinating and guiding applicants through various phases of the research funding application process
  • Promoting the University’s research capabilities to industrial, governmental and finance sectors to enhance research and innovation funding opportunities.
  • Providing detailed information on funding program administrative practices and procedures
  • Advising on research application content
