Description

The R&D Technologist is responsible for leading the development and optimization of high-quality sweet and savory bakery and snack products across all six TFF production lines. The role involves continuous learning, technical expertise, and strategic contributions to enhance product innovation and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Product Development & Innovation: Lead the creation of new and improved sweet and savory bakery and snack products, ensuring quality and consistency across all production lines.
  • Production Trials & Commercialization: Plan, conduct, and lead production trials, both with and without customers, providing detailed summaries and facilitating information flow through the commercialization process.
  • Technical Analysis & Evaluation: Perform product analysis, sensory evaluations, batching, and sample preparation to ensure product specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Customer Engagement: Prepare demonstration samples and prototypes for customers, as requested by the Projects, Sales, and Marketing teams.
  • Process Management: Follow and enhance the TFF commercial Stage Gate process, driving efficiency and innovation.
  • Documentation & Control: Maintain meticulous document control for formulations, SQF compliance, raw materials, nutritional information, and allergens. Lead the formulation control process.
  • Lab & Equipment Management: Contribute to the upkeep of the product development lab, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and proper maintenance of equipment and raw materials.
  • Ingredient & Flavor Testing: Conduct thorough testing of new ingredients and flavors to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards including shelf life.
  • Industry & Trend Analysis: Monitor industry developments, initiate and manage studies/projects to apply new technologies to existing products, and actively network to stay current with customer and consumer trends.
  • Cost Optimization: Evaluate and identify alternative ingredients and process improvements to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
  • Shelf Life Studies: Regularly conduct product shelf life studies to ensure product stability and quality over time.
  • Process Improvement & Team Development: Evolve product development processes, implement solution-oriented upgrades, support team training, and contribute to the overall advancement of the R&D team.
  • Additional Duties: Fulfill other R&D duties as required and as the team evolves.
