ABOUT US

The Institute for Chemical and Fuels from Alternate Resources (ICFAR)’s mission is to further Western’s research-intensive mission by becoming an internationally recognized Research Institute focusing in the area of green technologies specifically related to chemicals and fuels from alternative resources. The key goals of the unit are to develop viable and innovative processes and technologies that appeal to industry, government and private sector, in research a) using agricultural and forestry Bioproducts as well as other low value “waste” products and converting them to higher value and green products (biofuels, chemicals etc.), b) relating to environmental remediation and c) in areas of green technology development as applicable to the petrochemical (including oil and gas) industries.

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, PhD in Mechanical Engineering, with CFD expertise on disinfection processes, preferre

Experience:

  • 3 years’ working experience in a related academic research environment
  • Work on postdoctoral research portfolio, directly related to the research focus preferre

  • Communication skills with the ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
  • Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one’s own unit
  • Advanced skills in software and applications supporting the research development and analysis

Responsibilities

The Research Engineer will apply their expertise and knowledge to technical projects and find innovative, cost-effective means to conduct and improve research, techniques, technologies, and products. The incumbent will operate laboratory-scale reactors and perform chemistry experiments. Furthermore, the incumbent will write reports, generate, evaluate, and analyze data, and prepare and present reports and findings.
