ABOUT US

The Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering (MME) is one of six academic units in the Faculty of Engineering. Faculty and staff in the department support and foster the educational and research pursuits of undergraduate and graduate engineering students, while providing the best student experience. The Department aspires to become one of the top Mechanical and Materials Engineering Departments in the world. Education:

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, PhD in relevant position preferre

Experience:

• 3 years’ working experience in a related academic research environment
• Work on postdoctoral research portfolio, directly related to the research focus preferre

The Research Engineer will apply their expertise and knowledge to technical projects, and find innovative, cost-effective means to conduct and improve research, techniques, technologies, and products. The incumbent will conduct detailed component tests of equipment at Eden Energy Equipment in Guelph, Ontario, while at the same time continuing with fundamental experiments on melting/solidification of Phase-change materials (PCMs) for thermal storage in research labs. The Research Engineer will conduct experiments on melting/solidification of PCMs and assist the work of other HQP in the research group. They will write up the findings for scientific publications. The incumbent will be accountable for designing, developing, conducting, and evaluating new approaches to ensure research and project objectives are met. The Research Engineer will be responsible for associated laboratory work, and will generate, evaluate and analyze data, prepare and present reports and findings.
