Description

Closing Date: 12th August 2025.
Shortlisting to take place after closing date: Commencing 13th August 2025.
Interview expected to take place in the week following shortlisting: commencing 28th August 2025.
A research fellow post is available within the prestigious Yorkshire Quality and Safety Research Group. The post-holder will support a feasibility trial for an intervention to help primary care clinicians work collaboratively with patients to diagnose cancer earlier, funded by the NIHR’s Research for Patient Benefit programme.
This exciting role in a friendly and supportive team will involve working with six general practices in Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale or Craven to test the feasibility and acceptability of the SSNAP (Shared Safety Net Action Plan) tool. We are committed to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in our research team, processes and research priorities and are always seeking to review and improve this. We actively encourage applicants from a broad range of backgrounds.
You will work across all three work packages of the SSNAP feasibility trial, which is planned to run for 30 months, ending in April 2028. Your work will be varied and will included supporting general practices throughout the trial, maintaining close working relationships with healthcare and administrative staff and visiting them regularly. You will interview patients, family members and staff, conduct focus groups with staff and analyse qualitative data. The trial will also review quantitative data. Although this will be managed by a trial statistician, basic skills in quantitative data collection and and analysis would be an advantage. You will disseminate the outcomes of the study, e.g. by writing research papers or other outputs such as social media posts and by giving presentations.
We’re looking for someone with experience of health-related research, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines. Ideally you’ll also have experience of working/researching in primary care and of working on a research trial or feasibility study.
Our People Charter outlines the behaviours we can expect from one another and what you can expect from Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust:
We value people
We are one team
We care
We’re keen to meet people who share these values and are passionate about delivering the highest quality of care to our patients.
