Description
Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI) is a research institute at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, supported by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). The key objective of ATMRI is to support research and innovation in air traffic management. ATMRI focuses on developing practical and data-driven solutions for complex aviation systems, in close collaboration with industry and international partners. For more details, please view https://www.ntu.edu.sg/atmri. We are looking for a Research Fellow to conduct research on air traffic management (ATM) algorithms and data-driven methods. The role will focus on developing intelligent methods and operation-support tools for ATM applications, contributing to the advancement of research and innovation at Nanyang Technological University. Key Responsibilities: Conduct research on methods and approaches to support air traffic management studies and applications. Develop, test, and evaluate analytical models, algorithms, and tools using operational and simulated data. Support research activities related to airspace and air traffic operations under current and future ATM concepts. Work collaboratively with researchers and engineers to develop prototype solutions and decision-support tools. Analyse results and assess the performance and applicability of developed methods in realistic operational scenarios. Prepare technical reports, research papers, and project deliverables, and participate in project meetings and reviews. Contribute to research proposals, technical documentation, and other project-related activities as required. Job Requirements: PhD qualification degree in Aerospace Engineering, Transport, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related fields. At least three (3) years of relevant research experience in air traffic management or related technical research roles. Familiarity with research related to air traffic management systems, airspace operations, or air traffic operations. Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to prepare technical reports and academic publications. Proficiency in job-specific technical skills, including programming for research and data analysis purposes (e.g. Python or similar languages), as well as strong numerical and analytical skills. Competent in general research-related skills and professional attributes, including problem-solving and analytical thinking. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, develop solutions under defined timelines, and demonstrate good organisational and time management skills. We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Hiring Institution: NTU A research-intensive public university, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) has 33,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Engineering, Business, Science, Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences, and Graduate colleges. It also has a medical school, the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, established jointly with Imperial College London. NTU is also home to world-class autonomous institutes – the National Institute of Education, S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Earth Observatory of Singapore, and Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering – and various leading research centres such as the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI) and Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N). Ranked amongst the world’s top universities by QS, NTU has also been named the world’s top young university for the past seven years. The University’s main campus is frequently listed among the Top 15 most beautiful university campuses in the world and has 57 Green Mark-certified (equivalent to LEED-certified) buildings, of which 95% are certified Green Mark Platinum. Apart from its main campus, NTU also has a campus in Novena, Singapore’s healthcare district. Under the NTU Smart Campus vision, the University harnesses the power of digital technology and tech-enabled solutions to support better learning and living experiences, the discovery of new knowledge, and the sustainability of resources.
