For more details, please view https://www.ntu.edu.sg/mse/research. The Decarbonisation Programme “Singapore Max-Planck Alliance for the Sustainable Conversion of Biomass” is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Analytical Chemistry for characterisation of biomass and its derived products. The successful candidate will focus on the characterization of biomass raw materials and its reaction products, contributing to the catalytic conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into sustainable aviation fuels. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement an analytical pipeline for controlling biomass feedstock quality. Design and integrate online, in-line, and offline analytical methods for monitoring biomass conversion processes into automated setups. Establish standardized reporting procedures for analytical results. Assist in the creation of structured data reporting systems to enhance data accessibility and usability. Regular maintenance and validation of analytical devices Maintenance of lab or equipment or supplies that include procurement and liaison with suppliers Assist or produce high quality reports and documents that consolidate research findings Contribute to the mentoring and guidance of junior researchers and students, fostering an environment of learning and innovation within the project team. Job Requirements: Doctoral degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. Proficiency in 2D Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Extensive experience with Mass Spectrometry techniques. Hands-on expertise in Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS). Experience in integrating online and inline analytical techniques Proven ability in reaction kinetic analysis Expertise in the analysis and characterization of heterogeneous catalysts is beneficial Capable of conducting independent research while effectively collaborating in a multidisciplinary environment. We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Hiring Institution: NTU A research-intensive public university, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) has 33,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Engineering, Business, Science, Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences, and Graduate colleges. It also has a medical school, the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, established jointly with Imperial College London. NTU is also home to world-class autonomous institutes – the National Institute of Education, S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Earth Observatory of Singapore, and Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering – and various leading research centres such as the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI) and Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N). Ranked amongst the world’s top universities by QS, NTU has also been named the world’s top young university for the past seven years. The University’s main campus is frequently listed among the Top 15 most beautiful university campuses in the world and has 57 Green Mark-certified (equivalent to LEED-certified) buildings, of which 95% are certified Green Mark Platinum. Apart from its main campus, NTU also has a campus in Novena, Singapore’s healthcare district. Under the NTU Smart Campus vision, the University harnesses the power of digital technology and tech-enabled solutions to support better learning and living experiences, the discovery of new knowledge, and the sustainability of resources.
