Description
Position Title: Research Fellow – Organ on a Chip   About the RoleWe are seeking highly motivated and entrepreneurial Innovator Research Fellows to join a multidisciplinary team advancing the frontiers of organ-on-a-chip and AI-driven translational biology. This project focuses on the development of modular micro-bioreactor platforms capable of supporting long-term culture, physiological simulation, and real-time sensing—paving the way for next-generation human-relevant testing systems in drug discovery, toxicity screening, and precision medicine.   Key Responsibilities Design and develop micro-bioreactor systems for organ-on-a-chip applications. Integrate sensors, microfluidic control, and environmental regulation into compact bioreactor units. Collaborate with biologists and engineers to validate system performance in physiologically relevant settings. Explore and implement AI/ML tools for system optimization, data-driven control, or high-throughput analysis. Contribute to publications, IP filings, and translational grant proposals. Engage with industry and clinical partners to shape the roadmap for productization and deployment.   Preferred Qualifications PhD in Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics/Science, or related field. Hands-on experience in microfluidics, MEMS, biosensing, or bioreactor design. Knowledge of cell culture systems, organoids, or tissue engineering is a strong plus. Familiarity with AI/ML techniques and their application to experimental design or biological data analysis. Demonstrated interest in translational research or technology commercialization.   Why Join Us?This role is ideal for researchers who want to bridge cutting-edge science with real-world impact. You will be embedded in a collaborative and forward-thinking ecosystem with opportunities to co-develop innovations alongside clinicians, engineers, and venture partners.   To Apply:Please send your CV, a short statement of research interests, and contact information for 2 referees the application portal or email shireen_goh@sutd.edu.sg.
