In this pivotal role, you'll develop an innovative mathematical framework to model heterogeneous biological populations, contributing to research in mathematical biology. You'll collaborate with renowned institutions, including Politecnico di Torino, to advance scientific understanding and drive innovation through agent-based models, population models, and software implementations. This unique opportunity allows you to shape the future of biological research while working alongside leading experts in the field. Your responsibilities will include: Model Development: Develop agent-based mathematical models and derive corresponding population models to capture biological heterogeneity. Software Implementation: Implement solvers for these models in appropriate software, ensuring accurate and efficient computational solutions. Case Study Application: Apply the developed models to specific case studies, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge. Research Dissemination: Actively participate in research seminars, conferences, and academic publications to share findings with the broader scientific community. Collaboration and Mentorship: Engage with professional and industry bodies, foster collaborative partnerships, and contribute to the supervision and training of research students. You may be a great fit if: You are a highly motivated and skilled researcher with a PhD (or near completion) in Applied Mathematics or a related field, possessing a strong commitment to advancing scientific knowledge through innovative mathematical modelling approaches. You may also: Possess a strong background in mathematical modelling, with expertise in areas such as agent-based models and population models. Have experience in implementing mathematical models using appropriate software and computational techniques. Demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply models to real-world case studies. Exhibit strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork and knowledge dissemination.
