Description

ABOUT US

The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre (CTC) is a UKCRC registered and NCRI Clinical Trials Unit group member: https://www.ctc.ucl.ac.uk/
It is one of the largest cancer trials centres in the UK, with more than 115 members of staff managing >80 research studies. The CTC conducts clinical studies in oncology, both nationally and internationally, with a cross-disciplinary approach to evaluate anti-cancer treatments, and investigate methods of diagnosis and early detection.

Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join a dynamic team of statisticians at one of the largest cancer clinical trials units in the UK.
As a Grade 7 statistician, your role would first and foremost be about working as a clinical trial statistician, from trial concept to completion.
This involves collaborating with investigators on designing a study to answer specific research questions, including calculating the appropriate sample size, helping to write grant applications and trial-specific documentation such as the protocol and statistical analysis plan, and designing case report forms to collect patient data.
While the trial is recruiting, you will analyse emerging data and create reports for data monitoring and trial management group meetings. Once the trial has completed, you will take the lead role in analysing the final trial datasets. Importantly, you would be closely involved in writing papers for publication in medical journals, where you will be a named author.
The CTC offers hybrid working with staff able to work between the office and their home – a minimum of 60% FTE (3 days per week for full time staff) office attendance is required.
This full-time, open-ended post is funded for 1 year in the first instance.
Appointments are usually made at the beginning of the pay scale.
