Description

The Department of Computer Science is seeking to recruit a Research Fellows onto the SCHEME - Safety Critical Harsh Environment Microprocessing Evolution project, which is co-funded by InnovateUK and by partners from the UK civil avionics industry. The Department of Computer Science of the University of York leads two strands of work in SCHEME. This position is for the model-based software engineering strand.
You will be classed as a full-time researcher, however, opportunities will be available to help grow your experience to help secure a future position, including in academia.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION NEEDED

  • PhD in Computer Science (or nearing completion) or equivalent experience
  • First degree in Computer Science or related subject
  • Knowledge in Computer Science to engage in high quality research
  • Knowledge of model-based software engineering technologies (e.g. Eclipse Modeling Framework, Eclipse Sirius)
  • Strong object-oriented software design and development (preferably Java) skills
  • Highly developed communication skills to engage effectively with a wide-ranging audience, both orally and in writing, using a range of media
  • Ability to write up research work for publication and onward dissemination
  • Experience of undertaking publicly evidenced high quality research
  • Collaborative ethos

  • Enable user-friendly web-based reviewing of domain-specific models (e.g. in the context of GitHub pull requests).
  • Improve interoperability between software and electronics modelling tools.
  • Facilitate semantic queries spanning different versions of a model (e.g. versioned in a Git repository)
