We’re looking for talented individuals from across the UK to join the Google DeepMind Research Ready programme at the University of York.
This pioneering new scheme supports UK universities to deliver research placements that provide undergraduate students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds and underrepresented groups with research experience in AI.
The scheme is open to UK (Home) students currently in their penultimate year of study, and UK students who have recently graduated. Applicants will be studying or have studied a degree in computer science or a related subject.
We are offering a generous stipend of £12 per hour for a 35-hour week across the duration of the eight-week placement. We will support you with your travel costs, and provide free accommodation on campus at York (subject to travel distance from your home address).

Working with leading academics in the fields of intelligent robots and safe AI, you’ll focus on research themes with real-world impact. You’ll also attend a series of tutorials and practical sessions, and we’ll give you plenty of opportunities to put your new-found knowledge and skills into practice.
