Job Description Summary As a Research Intern in the Mechanics and Design Organization, you will work with the Research & Engineering teams in the design, analysis, testing, and validation of systems/ components aerospace turbomachinery systems. You will have opportunity to learn hands-on and contribute to development of creative and impactful technologies for improved aero engine components. This role will have a tenure of 6-9 months, enabling ownership and execution of a substantial and impactful assigned project. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing. Roles and Responsibilities: The Research Internship will help you experience the excitement of a career in engineering research, where you can have real impact on GE Aerospace’s products and customers around the world. In the GE Research Internship, you will: Work on 1-2 research projects over 6-9 months in a discipline aligned to your expertise Grow your technical expertise in your chosen field and expand your skills in new areas Collaborate with diverse teams to develop innovative technologies for GE Aerospace Receive technical insights, mentorship, and coaching from world-class technologists Share project progress internally and externally through presentations, written reports, and IP disclosure Ideal Candidate: Should be pursuing PhD & not submitted thesis in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or Structural Dynamics Required Qualifications: Pursuing PhD or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or Structural Dynamics Strong fundamentals, domain knowledge and analytical skills Execution mindset, self-driven with a sense of urgency Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a global team environment Desired Characteristics: Shown expertise in the fields of structural mechanics, dynamics, vibration and damping or in the areas of composites modeling and characterization Good track record through top-notch publications and experience of working in applied research labs in the above areas Proficiency in simulation software (e.g. ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, ADAMS) Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker.
