Job Description
Background
Cancer accounts for approximately one-sixth of all global deaths, with breast, lung, colon, rectum, and prostate cancers being the most prevalent types. Our team is focused on developing innovative therapeutic strategies, purpose-built in-vitro models and advanced assays to pave the way for the next generation of cancer-targeting drugs, within a company dedicated to improving human health and finding novel treatments for current and future patients.
As an intern in our team, you will have the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research using techniques such as genome editing, advanced microscopy and image analysis tools, cell culture and cell line generation, applied to the field of mRNA therapeutics. This internship will enable you to contribute to critical cancer research and allow you to learn and apply the most recent scientific techniques, within a leading global healthcare organization.
Project description
The primary objective of this project is to explore and assess the advantages of genome editing applied to mRNA therapeutics strategies developed by our team. The successful candidate will apply advanced vector designs to express constructs of interest (e.g. reporters, payloads…) and select desired attributes (expression levels, homogeneity, stability, SNR) for use in mRNA therapeutic applications.

The successful candidate will

  • Develop critical scientific, communication, and organizational skills that are directly relevant to the global healthcare research sector.
  • Gain practical experience in scientific research and cultivate the ability to implement advanced techniques and solutions applied to molecular and cell biology, genome editing, and imaging technologies.
  • Work as a team to achieve goals and identify the most effective strategies to perform scientific research.

Experience and Skills:

  • Eager to work as a team in a research-intensive environment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory-based methodologies such as molecular biology, cell culture, genome editing, microscopy.
  • Prior laboratory experience with cell culture and molecular biology is a plus.

Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to critically analyse data and reflect on experimental outcomes constructively.
  • Willingness to openly discuss and communicate challenges encountered during experiments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.
