POSITION SUMMARY

The Szeto Lab will primarily use in vivo mouse models, in vitro primary cell culture and flow cytometry to uncover new pathways regulating type-2 immune cell function. The appointee will perform and oversee research projects, laboratory processes, and other personnel and equipment.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.

Responsibilities
  • Performs laboratory administrative functions such as scheduling, purchasing and establishing record-keeping systems, including cryogenic inventory, mouse colony inventory and lab supplies inventory.
  • Supervises laboratory staff assigned, assuring appropriate study procedures, review of staff work, explaining policies and procedures and screening of new employees and students.
  • Develops procedure manuals and operational/technical guidelines for lab studies, including the updating and maintenance of animal and safety protocols.
  • Participates in lab study processes, maintaining records and preparing reports as required.
  • Researches and recommends new methods and procedures to maintain current capabilities, quality and standards.
  • Maintains a ‘can-do’ attitude and assists Dr. Aydan Szeto and other members of the research group to facilitate scientific discovery.
  • Collegial conduct towards members of the research group.
  • Contributes to the smooth running of the group, including the effective use of resources, training of others and taking responsibility for use of communal facilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
