The mission of the is to protect and restore the insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas to prevent and cure diabetes mellitus.
The research group led by Dr. Tiago C. Alves focuses on exploring the relationship between intracellular metabolism and the function of pancreatic islets. The goal of this research is to pave the way for innovative therapeutic approaches to diabetes by targeting the metabolic manipulation of islets. This advertised position will support the group’s ongoing research activities and collaborative efforts, both nationally and internationally.

Your tasks

  • Cultivation of endocrine cell lines (safety level 1 and 2)
  • Performing routine assays, including Western blotting (WB), ELISA, and PCR
  • Preparation of samples for mass spectrometry (MS)
  • Documentation of experiments, database management, and laboratory organization, including ordering supplies

Your profile

  • Completed training as a biology lab technician with equivalent skills and substantial professional experience. Candidates with completed technical university education (e.g., a bachelor’s degree in biology, biotechnology, or related fields) will also be considered.
  • Team player with strong communication skills and a proactive mindset
  • Proficient written and spoken communication skills in both English and German
  • Preference will be given to candidates with broad experience in molecular biology techniques and proven independence in developing and applying these techniques
