Description

We seek a research technician to design, develop, execute, and assist in a number of social science research studies and outreach efforts focused on food acquisition and food waste. The ideal candidate will have experience developing consumer-facing surveys, administering online surveys in the Qualtrics platform, recruiting participants using the Prolific consumer recruitment platform, cleaning survey data, developing survey weights, developing user-friendly data tools in Microsoft Excel, and conducting basic analyses of survey data. The candidate may also be asked to assist in the writing of grant proposals and the acquisition of support from outside agencies, and to coordinate the development of new and/or revised research methodologies.

Duties include:

  • Assisting development of research protocols and related online surveys
  • Managing the administration of online surveys
  • Organizing and cleaning of collected data
  • Developing user-friendly data tools in Microsoft Excel

The position will require about 10 - 20 hours per week on average for approximately one year with the opportunity for renewal contingent upon the success of team in procuring additional funding, though more hours per week could be negotiated. Duties may be performed remotely within the State of Ohio.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate social science discipline or equivalent experience and 4 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently with faculty, university administrators, community cooperators; have excellent written and oral communication skills; be proficient in using MS Excel and other data analysis software; and have experience with or interest in topics related to food and sustainability such as food waste reduction. Expertise with human subject research including project evaluation and IRB submission processes is preferred.
