JOB SUMMARY

Join our team of curious researchers who perform complex economic, legal and tax policy research. The Minnesota Department of Revenue seeks a Research Librarian. The Research Librarian works in the Tax Research Division and provides high-level reference services to Department of Revenue employees in a professional, non-partisan manner. The librarian is responsible for managing the library’s physical collection, online catalog and subscription services for the department. This is a solo librarian position and operates with considerable independence and autonomy. Through collaboration with other state government libraries, the position encourages knowledge and resource sharing as well and mentorship growth opportunities.
This posting may be used to fill multiple vacancies.
This position works in Stassen Office Building, Saint Paul and may have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule up to 50% telework under HR/LR Policy #1422. The incumbent will be expected to maintain regular in-person office hours as determined necessary for providing services to library customers.
The start date overlaps for training with retiring librarian.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five (5) years reference librarian experience*
  • A master’s degree in library & information science from an ALA-accredited program may substitute for eighteen months (18) of experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity researching government sources
  • Experience building rapport and communication with customer to clarify information needs.
  • Experience working with integrated library system platforms such as ExLibris.
  • Interest in researching legislative policy
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional travel to local government libraries to locate and/or borrow material.
  • Occasional moving of articles such as boxes, books, laptop computer, computer monitors, and other office items.
  • Occasional lifting requirements of up to 25 pounds and pushing of heavy rolling carts.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
