Type: Permanent Hours: Full time Location: Wellington Business Group: Archives & National Library Branch: Partnerships & Commissions Salary: $81,441- $101,349 Tēnā koutou, haere mai ki Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa Archives-National Library is recruiting for a Research Librarian Māori role in the Arrangement and Description Team within Metadata Services. The Arrangement and Description team sits in the middle of Library workflows. Our work touches on teams including Curatorial, Appraisal, Imaging, Digital Archivists, Conservation, Research and Access Services, Māori specialists across the institution, and assisting researchers in the reading room and visitors to the Library. In this role you will also be working across teams in Archives-National Library on activities including: Describing unpublished archival collections to enable the discovery, access, and use of items within Alexander Turnbull Library Using your understanding of te ao Māori and te reo Māori to inform and uplift arrangement and description practices Peer reviewing archival records and mentoring team members to ensure consistent metadata standards. Contributing to ongoing reparative metadata work Contributing to Te Whakakaokao in the maintenance and development of Ngā Upoko Tukutuku Supporting a diverse range of researchers and visitors to the Library To be successful in the role you will have: Knowledge of te ao Māori and te reo Māori Experience processing archival collections Strong organisational and workflow management skills Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others Ideally you will have a tertiary degree and a library qualification, or current study towards a library qualification or equivalent in a related field. Applicants without a library or related degree should demonstrate a strong combination of experience, training and motivation that will enable them to meet the requirements of the role.
