ABOUT US
UCL is a world-leading research-intensive university, often ranked in the top ten in the world, with an annual turnover of well over £1 billion. Our research and innovation continues to grow in scale and complexity, with record levels of research income and impact achieved last year.
Research and Innovation Services provides support and services for our academics working across the research and innovation lifecycle with a focus on applying for and managing funding, and providing professional advice on collaborations and contracts. The Directorate is comprised of four teams; Award Services, Contract Services, Planning, Insight and Improvement, and Compliance and Assurance, who all work together to deliver a service to support, advise and provide expertise to our academic community for our extensive and varied portfolio of externally funded projects.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Research Manager role is key to the success and financial performance of UCL, by ensuring accurate and timely grant applications are submitted and that when awarded, these are reviewed and set up efficiently and effectively to enable the research to start.
The role entails the provision of expert practical advice on all aspects of pricing and costing research activities, including choice of funder, terms and conditions of funding, overhead recovery and optimising the chances of success of a proposal. This advice is provided to researchers and administrators in order to guide departments on how to approach non-standard situations/complex funding calls, and in concert with the Research Contracts team as required.
The Research Manager role supports UCL departments and academics in applying for and setting up funding from the European Commission, including Horizon Europe and US Federal Agency funding including the National Institutes for Health. The role will also support the ERIO senior team in responding to the changes in EC and US federal funding.
