THIS IS A FIXED TERM APPOINTMENT FOR 12 MONTHS AND IS FULL TIME

The Centre For Macroeconomics (CFM) is a research centre bringing together world class experts to carry out pioneering research on the global economic crisis and help design policies to alleviate it.
The CFM is seeking to appoint a full-time Research Officer to start in September 2025 or sooner to closely collaborate with Matthias Doepke on the FamilyMacro research project that spans issues in family economics and macroeconomics. The position will be based in London at the LSE.
Topics covered under this research project include the determination of family labour supply; the role of rising female labour supply in aggregate fluctuations; the economics of fertility; the economics of parenting; and other issues at the intersection of family economics, macroeconomics, and structural labour economics.
The Research Officer will support the Principal Investigator Matthias Doepke in various aspects of this research project, including empirical work, programming, and model evaluation. The Research Officer will also be expected to develop their own independent research related to the overall theme of the project. Joint work on projects related to the overall research project may lead to co-authorship opportunities on academic research papers, policy papers or op-eds and blogs.
The Research Officer will also have responsibilities for additional activities organized under the grant, including the organisation of conferences, seminars, or workshops.

Candidates should have:

• By the post start date, a completed Ph.D. degree in economics or related discipline
• Experience with programming languages, in particular: Matlab, Python or Julia
• Experience with statistical software, in particular: R or Stata
