SOME KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining the relevant study materials (clinical protocol, standard operating procedures, Investigator’s Brochure, data collection tools, case report form, participant information and consent forms, study documentation, etc) in accordance with TGA, ICH Good Clinical Practice and CONSORT guidelines.
  • Coordinate project/ investigator meetings, advisory committee meetings and liaise with organisations, data custodians, stakeholders and collaborators to ensure the smooth running of clinical research and adherence to trial protocol management.
  • Conduct and assist with the set-up, implementation, analysis and reporting of findings from mixed method studies related to nicotine and tobacco research
  • A university degree in Behavioural Science, Epidemiology or related discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training or experience.
  • Knowledge, familiarity or demonstrated experience in working and delivering projects aimed at supporting socially disadvantaged groups to achieve improved health outcomes.
  • Ensure adverse events are properly documented and reported to the Sponsor and Ethics Committee as appropriate.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.

Responsibilities

The Research Officer is based in the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) within the Faculty of Medicine and Health and plays a key role in supporting the research projects as part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers in the area of nicotine and tobacco research within (NDARC). The position will provide technical and research assistance to senior research staff in activities associated with various research projects, including the contribution and application of knowledge in the field of tobacco and vaping cessation and specifically clinical trial research to a range of projects conducts within the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre.
The role reports to the Heart Foundation Future Leader Follow and Clinical Research Coordinators and has no direct reports.
