FULL TIME HEO 6, 12-MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT WITH POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION

  • An exciting opportunity in a newly created research role within the team focused on wearables and health within the Charles Perkins Centre and the Faculty of Medicine and Health

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The University is seeking to employ an enthusiastic, talented, and passionate Research Officer to provide operational and administrative support to Charles Perkins Centre’s Theme of Physical Activity, Exercise and Energy Expenditure, which is led by Professor Emmanuel Stamatakis. The position is located at Charles Perkins Centre, a leading multidisciplinary research institute of the University of Sydney.
The incumbent will support the activities within the newly founded Mackenzie Research Wearables Hub at Charles Perkins Centre. They will also support the data collection and management of laboratory and free-living studies led by Prof Stamatakis’ research group.
This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding Research Officer to develop a strong career in health-related research and gain substantial experience and receive training on wearables-based measurement of physical activity and sleep.
Note- as part of this role will be located within the Royal Prince Alfred clinic, the incumbent will be required to adhere to the vaccination requirements of the hospital once onboarded.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Support the design of research work being undertaken.
  • carry out literature searches, collects papers, codes information, summarises literature, etc.
  • assist with the design, development, and documentation of research protocols
  • ensure that research protocols are adhered to and reports any adjustments that might be necessary
  • liaise with collaborators to develop and undertake research projects
  • conduct research activity, including participant recruitment, and data collection, as part of the research agenda
  • coordinate and carries out qualitative and quantitative data collection in face-to-face settings or online
  • maintain academic and research records for the project(s), including project registers, EndNote libraries and publication registers
  • prepare data collection instruments (online surveys and interview guidelines) for different stages of the research project
  • coordinate research subject recruitment, scheduling, and interviews
  • develop and maintains participant recruitment-related social media page
  • handle communications with the Royal Prince Alfred clinic. Ensuring all lab personnel are up to date on their clinic credentials
  • provide administrative support to the Mackenzie Research Wearables Hub @CPC and the Chief Investigator’s team, including but not limited to manuscript formatting and submissions, draft service agreements for external clients, preparation and dissemination of the team monthly newsletter, future staff/student onboarding, raise purchase orders, preparing agendas and taking minutes
  • perform work activities relevant to the role’s key accountabilities as approved by the Chief Investigator, the Research Fellows or other senior research staff and commensurate to the role’s classification level.
