ARE YOU INTERESTED IN CFD MODELLING AND LOOKING FOR A NEW JOB OPPORTUNITY IN THE FIELD? ARE YOU INTERESTED IN USING GPUS FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING? WOULD YOU LIKE TO DEVELOP INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY WITH SUPERB COLLEAGUES WHO ARE TOP EXPERTS IN THEIR FIELD? DO YOU WANT TO BUILD AN EXCELLENT SCIENCE CAREER AND WORK AT THE INTERFACE OF ACADEMY AND INDUSTRY? VTT MIGHT BE JUST THE PLACE FOR YOU.

VTT is one of the leading applied research organisations in Europe. What unites us are curiosity, a passion for learning and a purpose: to solve the biggest challenges of our time and turn them into sustainable growth and well-being. Our cross-disciplinary community of over 2300 brilliant minds is focused on creating impact through science-based innovation. In recent years, we have been working on ground-breaking innovations such as quantum computers, production of hydrogen and e-fuels, and novel bio-based alternatives for plastics and other components. Get to know us further by exploring VTT’s research infra at VTT World.
We are now looking for a scientist to join our process modelling team to develop and apply Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to challenges in the energy and process industry. Together with your colleagues, you will have a key role in developing new modelling methods and services to support our customers in chemical and process industry and energy production. You will be using and developing CFD tools to support our customers’ operations and R&D activities.
The focus areas of our research team include low-carbon industrial processes and hydrogen utilization. Our main simulation tools are OpenFOAM and ANSYS Fluent. We participate actively in the development of the multiphase solvers of OpenFOAM. You have the opportunity to work with leading companies in the process and energy industry. Our work is based on our profound scientific understanding and validated methods, which are supported by our in-house process and industry experts. We have excellent tools and a recognized team that has pioneered in CFD for more than 30 years.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • You have a Master of Science or PhD degree in relevant field, such as energy/process engineering or computer science
  • Proficient in using OpenFOAM and developing models for OpenFOAM
  • Solid experience in C++ programming
  • Knowledge on chemistry and GPUs is an advantage
Responsibilities
  • CFD simulations of different processes, particularly related to reactive and multiphase flows using OpenFOAM and ANSYS Fluent.
  • Development of modelling components and tools based on OpenFOAM or ANSYS Fluent.
  • Communication of software development items (APIs, architecture, requirements) with other internal and external developers.
  • Developing customer cases and managing projects in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Communicating with key stakeholders in companies and in the academia orally and in writing.
