The Municipal Licensing and Standards (MLS) Division supports the City of Toronto by leading the effective delivery of by-law administration and enforcement services, business licensing and permitting, and animal care services, all which contribute to the safety and vibrancy of Toronto communities. As part of this work, the Division has led several major bylaw reviews (such as noise and animals) and introduced new regulatory regimes over the past few years, including Private Transportation Companies (Uber/Lyft), Short-term Rentals (AirBnB/booking.com), RentSafeTO: Apartment Building Standards, and many more.
Join MLS as a Research & Policy Associate and support the development policy files that will move the Division forward on key initiatives such as multi-tenant housing (rooming houses), animal care services, street vending, and property standards, among other important initiatives. This early-career policy role is part of a team of policy and research professionals providing support to Committees, Council and the Division for the development of effective policies, by-laws and business practices.
