We are looking for a Research Project Manager to join our newly established Project Management Flexible Resource Centre. This role is crucial to providing dedicated and embedded project management support to externally funded research projects across the university. The Research Project Manager will play a critical role in managing complex, multi-partner research projects, as well as in contributing to the development of the Flexible Resource Centre. This dynamic position is ideal for someone who is passionate about the advancement of knowledge through meticulous project oversight and collaborative team management.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a Research Project Manager within the Flexible Resource Centre, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of externally funded research projects across the university. You will independently manage or collaborate on a variety of complex, interdisciplinary, and cross-university projects, whilst contributing definition and growth of the Centre’s Project Management service, including supporting with the development of standards and protocols. The postholder will also have the chance to advise and support colleagues on the optimal use of project management tools and techniques specifically tailored to the research environment, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of project operations. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in project management, particularly within a research or academic setting, who is looking for a dynamic and impactful role.

YOUR SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:

  • Project Management expertise with a proficiency in managing complex, high-value projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organisational and planning skills, with an ability to provide direction and foresee potential challenges and critical issues, and effectively solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a track record for establishing productive working relationships, managing stakeholder, and fostering collaboration.
  • An understanding of the research support environment and research funding landscape.
  • The ability to work flexibly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and to adapt to changing conditions and proactively shift and tailor procedures and processes as required.
