Description
The Meta Reality Labs (RL) Research Team brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of AR and VR, which together will become as universal and essential as smartphones and personal computers are today. We are developing all the technologies needed to enable breakthrough AR glasses and VR headsets, including computer vision, graphics, body tracking, robotics, perception science, and true telepresence. The Virtual Humans team in Sausalito, CA, Redmond, WA and Zurich, CF work on cutting-edge research and development focusing on virtual people and robotics. We are currently seeking innovative interns with a passion for technology to develop the next generation of virtual humans and robotics. Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year. Research Topics: * Physics-based simulation for deformable objects * Rigging and linear blend skinning * Geometry processing, mesh representations * Object modeling, volumetric representation * Non-rigid registration * Differentiable simulation * Applied machine learning Responsibilities Investigate, design and develop novel algorithms in areas such as full body, cloth and hair modeling, simulation and animation, surface and volumetric reconstructions, for avatars, digital humans, virtual try-on applications and robotics applications for soft-body interactions. Prototyping, building and analysis of experimental systems. Design and execution of algorithms. Collaboration with and support of other researchers across various disciplines. Communication of research agenda, progress and results. Minimum Qualifications Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in Computer Vision, Graphics, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related field Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment Experience with computer vision, 3D geometry, character animation and linear algebra 2+ years of experience with C, C++, and/or Python Preferred Qualifications Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship 2+ years of experience with one or more of the following areas: developing models for physics-based simulation, 3D geometry reconstruction, robotics, non-rigid deformation, shape representation, numerical optimization, deep learning Proven track record of achieving results as demonstrated in accepted papers at top computer vision, graphics, machine learning or robotics related journals and conferences such as SIGGRAPH, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR etc Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
Responsibilities
The intern will investigate, design, and develop algorithms for modeling and simulation of avatars and digital humans. They will also collaborate with researchers across various disciplines and communicate research progress and results.
