Description
Meta was built to help people connect and share, and over the last decade our tools have played a critical part in changing how people around the world communicate with one another. With over a billion people using the service and more than fifty offices around the globe, a career at Meta offers countless ways to make an impact in a fast growing organization. The Wearables AI team at Meta works to advance the field of artificial intelligence by making fundamental advances in technologies to help Humans interact with and understand our world. We conduct product-motivated research in ML/AI, develop state-of-the-art algorithms and deploy models to the RayBan | Meta family of smart glasses. We work on most aspects of AI, in on-device and server-side settings. As a Research Scientist Intern, you will help us develop innovative models and algorithms, with a goal of publishing and deploying the outcomes. We are seeking individuals passionate in areas such as deep learning, computer vision and multi-media, audio and speech processing, natural language processing, personalization and recommendations, machine learning, reinforcement learning, computational statistics, and applied mathematics. Our interns have an opportunity to make core algorithmic advances and apply their ideas at an unprecedented scale. Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year. Responsibilities Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines. Develop novel and accurate NLP algorithms and systems, leveraging Deep Learning and Machine Learning on big data resources. Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners including communicating research plans, progress, and results. Publish research results and contribute to research that can be applied to Meta product development. Minimum Qualifications Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Multi-modal Systems, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Speech Recognition, Audio Processing, Conversational AI, or other relevant technical field Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment Experience with Python, C++, C, Java or other related languages Experience building systems with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch or Tensorflow Preferred Qualifications A strong interest in theoretical and empirical research and for answering difficult questions with research Experience in at least one ML/AI area such as Natural Language Processing (Translation, Summarization, Dialog, NER, etc), Speech and Audio Understanding (Recognition, Synthesis, Signal Processing), Computer Vision (Image or Video Analysis), Multi-modal (image, video, audio, text, etc) Reasoning & Retrieval, Reinforcement Learning, Search and Recommendations Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as ACL, NAACL, EACL, NeurIPS, ICLR, AAAI, RecSys, KDD, IJCAI, CVPR, ECCV, ICASSP, or similar Ability to stay in touch with the literature of a particular domain and ability to quickly reproduce results, if needed Demonstrated software engineering experience via a previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub) Experience with the utilization of enterprise level AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning/ LLM platforms involving big data management and GPU compute Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment $7,650/month to $12,134/month + benefits
