JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly-motivated and skilled research scientist with a strong educational background in Chemistry, Food Science, Biotechnology, or Materials Science to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD degree and possess hands-on laboratory research experience. This role requires the ability to perform independent research, design and execute experiments, prepare scientific reports, conduct literature reviews, and contribute to grant writing and scientific publications. The candidate must have a solid understanding of scientific principles and methodologies, with a keen interest in advancing research and innovation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Food Science, Biotechnology, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Proven laboratory research experience with the ability to conduct independent experiments.
  • Strong understanding of scientific principles, methodologies, and analytical techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for scientific reporting and grant writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple research projects efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in analytical chemistry techniques.
  • Proficiency in materials characterization techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with wet chemistry methods.
  • Knowledge in the following fields are considered a strong asset: food packaging, regulatory approvals for food contact materials, surface chemistry, and coating techniques.
  • Knowledge in any of the following analytical techniques are an asset: HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis, NMR, TGA/DLC, bioactivity assays, DLS particle analysis and Zeta potential measurements, QCM-D and colorimetric assays.
Responsibilities
  • Work with the Director of R&D to plan and execute research projects.
  • Design, plan, and execute laboratory experiments independently.
  • Conduct literature reviews and stay updated with the latest scientific advancements.
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and document findings in scientific reports.
  • Write and contribute to scientific publications, grant proposals, and technical documents.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external research partners.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and best practices.
  • Collaborate in the organization and safety of the research labs.
  • Communicate with third-party vendors and contractors for equipment procurement.
  • Perform and schedule laboratory equipment maintenance.
