POSITION DESCRIPTION & DETAILS:

This position will support the potato agronomy program by helping conduct field research trials to address key needs in the potato industry. Assist with machinery, seed preparation, plot setup, planting, maintaining plots, gathering measurements, harvesting potatoes, grading potatoes, data analysis, research reports and all other aspects of potato field research. As a result of this position, data will be developed that can be used in Extension education for industry and potato growers to improve sustainable production practices.
Advertised Salary: $60,000+

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in agronomy, plant physiology, or a related agricultural related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in potato field research, greenhouse research, and post-harvest potato research.
  • Knowledge of potato production, post-harvest management, field plot design, statistics, and scientific writing.
  • Knowledge of statistical computer software, Microsoft Office, math skills.
  • Experience mentoring students.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely with others in a multicultural environment.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ND and MN pesticide applicators license.
  • Working with farm equipment, pesticides, and being outside.
