POSITION OVERVIEW

The Research Senior Technician supports experimental research in atomic, molecular, and optical physics by assisting with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of specialized laboratory systems. This role involves conducting technical tasks, collecting and interpreting data, and ensuring that laboratory equipment and processes function effectively. The position contributes to the execution of research projects, primarily focused on attosecond light interactions and strong-field ionization, under the general direction of the principal investigator.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate’s Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment, particularly lasers and/or vacuum systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow experimental procedures and troubleshoot routine equipment issues.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with ultrafast laser systems and electron spectrometry.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and analysis software (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on technical tasks.
  • Experience assisting in academic research or mentoring students in a lab setting.
