The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Aga Khan University, Karachi, is the regional leader in establishing high quality clinical service and academic programs. The current clinical facility consists of 60 beds including fast track, separate adult and paediatric emergency units, cardiac emergency, a clinical decision unit, resuscitation rooms, isolation rooms and triage. The main Emergency Department (ED) provides care to over 75,000 patients a year. Most patients require complex medical and surgical/trauma care. In addition, the department supervises a satellite free standing emergency department. This is a grant funded contractual position. Responsibilities: You will be responsible to: supervise and monitor research staff in the completion of research projects ensure completion of research projects on time track and report protocol deviations develop SOPs and a manual of operations for study activities train study staff according to study protocols and guidelines communicate with collaborators and stakeholders for collaborative research projects develop and conduct research studies and actively contribute to publications draft, revise, and finalize manuscripts based on project data collaborate with co-authors and supervisors to ensure accuracy and quality ensure compliance with journal guidelines and submission requirements manage all steps of the project to ensure timely completion and readiness for publication document and prepare reports of capacity-building activities conducted in the field prepare detailed reports for workshops, trainings, and courses organized share opportunities with investigators, department faculty, and research teams develop grant concepts, proposals, and budgets in collaboration with investigators and communicate with external co-investigators during the grant writing process ensure compliance with funder and institutional requirements coordinate internal reviews and ensure timely submission of proposals identify and track relevant national and international funding opportunities support post-award reporting and grant closeout coordinate IRB/ERC submissions, amendments, renewals, closures, and timely closeout reports circulate departmental ethics committee guidelines ensure informed consent processes comply with ethical standards maintain regulatory binders and ensure audit readiness ensure completeness, proper filing, and archiving of all study data develop and implement a QA/QC plan with proper documentation and reporting. Requirements: You should have: MBBS with MSc. In Epidemiology and Statistics / MPH / Master’s in HPM or equivalent qualifications at least two years of experience in managing research studies, including supervision of data collection, data analysis, and drafting and submission of research manuscripts experience in teaching, training, and mentoring research staff ability to develop research questions and new ideas in emergency medicine, trauma, and injury ability to work well independently and in a team excellent computer skills specially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software broad knowledge of research in emergency medicine and related areas ability to manage time effectively and meet project deadlines skilled in writing research proposals, academic papers, and manuscripts ability to write and submit grants successfully.
