Research Specialist, Department of Emergency Medicine Location: Karachi. Introduction: Aga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research, and health care of international standards relevant to Pakistan and the region. The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities and well-equipped diagnostic services. The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Aga Khan University, Karachi, is the regional leader in establishing high-quality clinical service and academic programs. The current clinical facility consists of 60 beds, including fast track, separate adult and paediatric emergency units, cardiac emergency, a clinical decision unit, resuscitation rooms, isolation rooms, and triage. The main Emergency Department (ED) provides care to over 75,000 patients a year. Most patients require complex medical and surgical/trauma care. In addition, the department supervises a satellite free-standing emergency department. This is a grant-funded contractual position. Job Role / Responsibilities: You will be responsible to: manage, clean, and validate datasets develop and implement statistical analysis plans using R, SPSS, and Stata conduct descriptive, inferential, and advanced statistical analyses select appropriate statistical methods for complex data prioritize analysis workflows and manage timelines across multiple concurrent projects draft, revise, and finalize manuscripts for multiple publications collaborate with co-authors, supervisors, and research teams to ensure quality and accuracy ensure compliance with journal guidelines, study protocols, and institutional policies contribute to the development of research questions and study designs contribute to policy briefs, stakeholder dissemination, and technical reports, including visualizations and presentations identify, track, and share national and international funding opportunities with investigators and research teams develop grant concepts, proposals, and budgets in collaboration with investigators participate in the preparation and submission of funding applications ensure compliance with funder and institutional requirements coordinate internal reviews and ensure timely submission of proposals and reports support post-award reporting and project closeout activities coordinate IRB/ERC submissions, including amendments, renewals, and closures ensure adherence to informed consent processes and regulatory requirements maintain regulatory binders and ensure audit readiness mentor and guide junior staff and interns on data analysis and statistical software determine when and how to escalate ethical, technical, or operational issues contribute to multiple research outputs, including manuscripts and grant-related deliverables. Eligibility Criteria / Requirements: You should have: an MBBS or MSc in Statistics, or an equivalent qualification at least three years of experience in data analysis, statistical support, and research projects expertise in data analysis using R, SPSS, and Stata knowledge of epidemiological methods, study designs, and statistical analysis strong academic and scientific writing skills for reports, manuscripts, and presentations excellent organisational and time management skills the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams integrity and adherence to research ethics proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
